I consider myself to be a novice ghost investigator, I haven’t experienced the amount of unexplained craziness that would make even the most seasoned paranormal investigator quit the field. I have been to Edinburgh Manor, in Scotch Grove Iowa for seven overnights and countless day tours, I’ve done hours of research on the history of the Iowa poor farm, and I’m no expert. Not even close. There is one thing I do know, I have undoubtedly caught evidence of the spirits that reside there, and all of it, has been on a digital recorder. There are some very nice recorders that you can easily drop over $100, I got all of mine at Walmart for less than $30.
Recorders are the most simple, and probably the most likely device to catch evidence on. I always have mine running, either its in my hand while I’m walking, on a table or chair during an EVP session or its by itself in Room 200 or in the darker than normal depths of the basement where “The Joker” likes to wonder. I bring those spots up because on our very first overnight, my recorder caught a crystal clear “Hello?”, in Room 200 and what sounded like coins being thrown in the basement. In Room 200, we set the recorder down and left, closing the door behind us. You can hear my team walking away as our voices got more distant when a “hello?” came through. It is loud and has a questioning tone, as if it heard us but couldn’t see us. All you need is a recorder and patience, reviewing the recordings is a lot of listening to your own voice or absolutely nothing. My team, has no patience. After an investigation, I’m the recorder drop off station. The link to that recording is on our YouTube channel below. https://youtube.com/shorts/NYGHK-fUqFw?feature=share
