On our first overnight at Edinburgh Manor, one of my ex-team members brought holy water and decided to try and “Move them on”. I did not know of his plan beforehand, he wondered off and started splashing away. Being our first time investigating at night, I really didn’t notice how serious the situation was getting. It was like walking through mud, my heart would not slow down and the night was darker than usual. It had become abundantly clear, the building had come alive, with us inside. There were noises all around us, so many that we tired to follow them but simply ran in circles.
Three hours in, I noticed a change in my friend, he become, sweaty, irritated and extremely loud, screaming about a girl being raped, repeatedly. He found a painting on the wall of two beagles, immediately shouting, “I HAVE BEAGLES! DID YOU HAVE BEAGLES!!??”. I tried to calm him down but was cut off with, “SHHHHHH!! I CAN’T HEAR WHAT THEY’RE SAYING!!”, he had a look in his eyes I’d never seen in the 25+ years of friendship we had. We were able to corral him outside where his whole demeanor changed. We got to the back house where the alcohol he consumed earlier, kicked in and he passed out cold. (I specifically told him not to drink any alcohol but his personal demons were too strong.)
Five hours into a twelve hour investigation, we left. Our attempts to enter were met with echoing bangs and unseen eyes watching our every move. My wife and I went in one last time to collect our recorders. We got to the center of the Manor and a bang that shook the walls stopped me in my tracks, I started backing up to the door and my wife grabbed my arm and said, “Let’s get our stuff and go!”. It felt like something was right behind us every step of the way. We have returned for six overnights since and none have been as active as that first night. I’ll end this long story with a couple warnings, DO NOT try to move them on and DO NOT use any mind altering substances when dealing with the paranormal. They are there for a reason, you will anger them and they can harm anyone in ways you can’t imagine.
**My friend is not part of DAAM! and I had to cut communication because he has ongoing substance issues that I can not help him with. As far as I know, nothing further happened to him.
