I really want to investigate a location for an entire weekend. Arrive Friday night and depart late Sunday morning. Think about it, ghosts and spirits don’t sleep, at least that’s what I assume and that means an early breakfast experiment or an afternoon EVP nap session have great potential. Take a nap and leave the recorder go, I know that I don’t sleep during an investigation at night, not because I’m scared but because all my senses are heightened and my adrenaline is flowing. Waking up after an investigation is like a spiritual hangover, it takes a little caffeine, a greasy burger and a brisk walk to shake it off. I’m no stranger to staying up for long periods of time but this hobby definitely takes something out of me.
The last few times at Edinburgh Manor, in Scotch Grove Iowa, have been pretty quiet. I’m not going to say the entities are comfortable with us, there is evidence, the same noises here and there, I think we’re getting comfortable. That building set the bar pretty high on that first overnight. A crystal clear, “Hello?“, in Room 200, caught the little girl on the first floor saying, “Hoola hoop”, and the whole situation with my buddy completely ignoring my wishes by drinking heavily, splashing holy water around like he was the friggin Pope and then getting jumped by a powerful, unseen force. I mean, my wife and I were in that place alone, during extremely strong thunderstorms, twice… I thought we were in an episode of Scooby-Doo!… and even those nights were quiet. I believe more time is needed to fully investigate, and carry out our game plan in its entirety.
